PRESS RELEASE:

THE RETURN OF MATINEE!
MATINÉE INVADES SIN CITY FOR MEMORIAL DAY
By Sebastian Bahr

Patrick Crough and Jake Resnicow pride themselves on elevating the party experience.  Their Matinée events don’t just pump dance music; these provocateur architects re-imagine and craft an elaborate experience, complete with blazing pyrotechnics and production by Cirque du Soleil and Matinée Ibiza.  Coming off sold-out events at Miami’s Winter Party Festival and their Matinée New Years bash in New York, the duo are joining West Hollywood party producer Paul Nicholls for their next production, MATINÉE LAS VEGAS FESTIVAL. Taking place Memorial Day Weekend, Friday, May 25th thru Monday, May 28th, MATINÉE LAS VEGAS FESTIVAL promises to be the biggest dance festival of the summer with eight amazing parties.

“Part of our mission is to show people that a Matinée party is all about awe and extravagance,” explains Patrick Crough, one half the production team behind Matinée North America. “Once again, we are teaming with the hottest and most cutting-edge acts from around the world.”

Matinée launched fifteen years ago in Ibiza. Since then, it has evolved internationally, gaining notoriety for it’s lavish, over-the-top events, including CircuitFestival Barcelona.  It made its Las Vegas debut last summer with five thrilling parties that included a surprise appearance by pop singer Natasha Bedingfield and jaw-dropping spectacles.  One stunt, involving synchronized swimmers performing in a glass pool of water set on fire, is still talked about today.

“The first Matinée Las Vegas Festival was an event never seen before on the west coast,” remembers Jake Resnicow, Crough’s partner at Matinée North America.  “The party set a new standard for nightlife.”

Raising the bar on nightlife is exactly what the Matinée brand was built to do.  Whether in the heart of Manhattan or on the beaches of Miami, a Matinée event is meant to take revelers out of body and beyond the confines of their imagination.

Crough’s first Matinée experience was while studying abroad in Barcelona. “I started attending the parties over there,” he says. “They called me the ‘blue eyed rubio de America’. I was captivated immediately and convinced I wanted to be a part of it.” He joined Matinée as a performer in Europe.  When Matinée decided to expand its brand into North America, they asked Crough to join Jake Resnicow in overseeing and producing all the parties in the US and Canada.

The duo’s first Matinée event was Pride in New York.  “Our US debut was truly magical,” remembers Resnicow. “We were determined to do something very different and outside-the-box.”

They organized a party where 4,000 people loaded into water taxis, sailing from Manhattan to Governor’s Island at the center of New York City’s East River.  The island was transformed into an extravagant dance arena, with explosive music and thrilling light shows. Then at sunset, a surprise fireworks display ignited the skyline.

Crough and Resnicow work seamlessly together because both bring something different to the table. While Jake Resnicow is the operations man, “I bring the creative touch to the production,” explains Crough. “I make sure the stage remains a creative outlet for everyone involved.”

Even the revelers play a part in the success of Matinée, says Paul Nicholls, producer of popular West Hollywood parties like “Stripper Circus”, “Hooker Casino” and The Factory’s “Hype”.  “Stripper Circus” is now in Las Vegas at Share Nightclub. “I feel as though everyone who attended the party last year has become a sub-promoter of sorts.  They all had such a good time they can’t wait to come back and share the Matinée Vegas experience with their friends.”

Jake Resnicow points out it would be remiss to not credit the many people that work behind the scenes to make the majesty of Matinee happen: the lighting technicians, the sound engineers and the props crew, among others.

Building on their reputation for presenting the best cutting-edge and breakthrough talent, Resnicow and Crough plan to exceed expectations even higher this Memorial Day. Last years event had five parties.  This year’s weekend features eight events over four days and nights, including main events and after-hour parties at the city’s hottest clubs, as well as pool parties at the weekend’s host hotel, Rumor. Each party will feature original themes designed to take revelers on an extravagant weekend-long journey.

The DJ line-up includes some of the world’s most innovative icons in dance music, including Billboard #1 remixers/producers Hector Fonseca, Taito Tikaro, Joe Gauthreaux, Alyson Calagna, DJ Theresa, Brazil’s Rodolfo Bravat, and red-hot rising stars Nina Flowers, Justin Dawson, Billy Lace, and more.

Resnicow hints the Sunday Night Main Event at The Palms Hotel “will be the party everyone talks about for months.” Featuring their trademark BOOM!! brand, the team will take over the legendary Rain Nightclub with Spanish dancers, blazing pyrotechnics and live acts and shows by Cirque Du Soleil.

Weekend passes start at $99. The exclusive and luxurious Rumor Hotel (455 East Harmon Avenue, Las Vegas) is the host hotel for MATINÉE LAS VEGAS FESTIVAL.  Suites start at $129/night.  Rumor will also provide guests with complimentary shuttle service to all weekend events.
