Over the past five years, Ascension has definitely become a major destination for every man and woman who lives to party. The signature event on Sunday afternoon is the draw, of course, with over 4,000 weekend party warriors storming the beach for one of the most spectacular oceanfront dance parties in the world. Ascension has grown into a three-day, 12-event weekend that benefits the local Fund in the Sun Foundation and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. Everywhere you look there will be drop-dead gorgeous men and women wearing little more than a bathing suit. Plan to attend the VIP Launch Party, the Float Pool Party, Ascension Tea Dance; plus all three nights at the Pavilion nightclub and, of course, the big event Sunday afternoon on the world’s most beautiful sandbar — complete with custom-built dance floor and an immense white pyramid with the trademark reflecting, wading pool. The production and DJs will simply blow you away. Ascension marks another proud chapter in the saga of beach chic, Fire Island style.
